NEW VENUE: Pitsford Open Water Swimming (SwimCube) joins the NOWCA network!
We are proud to welcome another venue to our network of 40+ safe open water locations.
The team behind SwimCube is bringing its signature open water experience to one of Northamptonshire’s most scenic natural settings – Pitsford Open Water Swimming.
Nestled in the rolling Northamptonshire countryside, just six miles north of Northampton, Pitsford Water is one of the East Midlands’ most quietly spectacular settings. This expansive reservoir has evolved from its origins as a water supply into a flourishing ecosystem and much loved local treasure – and now, it’s the latest venue to join the NOWCA network.
Open water swimming at Pitsford is operated by SwimCube, who is passionate about helping swimmers of all abilities get the most from the water. Their venue at Pitford Reservoir is something special offering rich biodiversity and over 60 species of birds. On any given session, swimmers share the water with one of the most diverse wildlife landscapes in the region – four main streams feed into the reserve, their valleys forming large bays of shallow water that attract wildfowl in winter and migrating waders in summer. It’s the kind of environment that reminds you exactly why you swim outside.
Three course options are available – 250m, 400m and 800m – catering to everyone from first timers finding their feet in open water to seasoned swimmers chasing distance. Swimmers as young as eight are welcome, making it a genuinely inclusive venue for families too.
Safety is top priority at this venue. All sessions will be fully lifeguarded, giving swimmers confidence and reassurance every time they enter the water, whether they are new to open water or regular, year-round swimmers.
Facilities at the venue include onsite parking (paid), toilets and changing rooms, along with an onsite café serving hot and cold drinks and delicious food.
