Peak Open Water Sports - Salhouse Broad
Peak Open Water Sports - Salhouse Broad
Set within a privately owned and carefully managed stretch of the Broads National Park in Norfolk, this unique venue is located on the River Bure between Wroxham and Horning. Surrounded by the natural beauty of one of the UK’s most iconic waterways, it offers a peaceful and scenic setting for open water swimming.
Unlike much of the Broads, which were formed through peat diggings, this area has a different origin, shaped by sand and gravel extraction dating back to the 10th century. This creates a distinct water environment, particularly well suited to outdoor sports and open water activity.
For the 2026 season, Peak Open Water Sports has introduced organised open water swimming sessions at the venue, marking an exciting new opportunity for swimmers in this part of Norfolk. The sessions provide a structured and supportive way to experience the water, whether building confidence or developing existing skills.
Combining natural heritage with a fresh approach to open water access, this stretch of the River Bure offers a calm and characterful location where swimmers can enjoy the experience of being in the water, surrounded by the quiet beauty of the Broads.
